Local Student wins national scholarship

GRAYSON– Spencer Brady, a Grayson High School senior, has been named a recipient of a Principal’s Leadership Award Scholarship, co-sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) and Herff Jones, Inc. Peachtree Ridge kids INSPIRE

SUWANEE - INSPIRE, Peachtree Ridge’s athletic program for special needs children, was founded in 2006 by Wayne Schmitz, a parent of a special needs child, along with Derrick Hutchins and Renee McClendon who worked for the Gwinnett County School System with special needs children. The INSPIRE program is part of the Peachtree Ridge Youth Athletic Association.

The 5th Annual Cinco de Mayo Bash at GHS!

The annual celebration began at Grayson in the spring of 2003 and has become a tradition since then.  The fifth of May is full of student energy, cultural enrichment, and dancing. Back in 2003, five Spanish teachers, Holly Brodnax, Jennifer Koleff, Allison Sprayberry, Laura Story [now Droms) and Heather Wright collaborated to plan a day of cultural enrichment away from the textbooks. GCPS Work-Based Learning Kicks Off!

SUWANNEE- Gwinnett County Public School’s Work-Based Leaning Program recently held their kick-off meeting at the Instructional Support Center. Complete with catering by Mill Creek’s culinary class, a reception preceded the meeting. The Work-Based Learning Program through Gwinnett County Public Schools is open to juniors and seniors who are at least 16 years of age. Students can be in the apprenticeship, internship, or cooperative education work-study program. It is all called Work-Based Learning and allows students go to work as part of their curriculum.
