South Gwinnett High School celebrates fifty years of learning

For fifty years, South Gwinnett High School has occupied a prominent place in Snellville and in the lives of the students who attended there. How fitting it was to celebrate this anniversary. Recently, I had dinner with four former South Gwinnett graduates - Ginger Hearn Clower, Sherry Moon Williams, Pam Hollis Melton, and Donna Abrams Bowman. Alexander Park Start Approved

(Lawrenceville, Ga.) – The initial phase of development of a new park off Scenic Highway near Sugarloaf Parkway in Lawrenceville was approved by the Gwinnett Board of Commissioners today. The 91-acre Alexander Park will initially include a plaza area, horseshoe courts, picnic shelter, playground, open space play area, a disc golf course, outdoor classroom, small lake with a picnic shelter and fishing piers, a gazebo overlook, 1.5-mile multi-purpose trail and a one-mile soft surface trail loop along with other park amenities. On February 9, 2008, Sara Bazemore awarded the Mother of the Year award at the Dean Day Center by the Georgia Mothers Association. The Cancer Ministry nominated Bazemore. An active member of Cannon Church, she says,  “I am so humbled and honored by this award!” More...

Duluth MPO Liz Strickland Receives the 2008 Medal of Merit from the Gwinnett County Chamber

Friday, March 28, 2008 – MPO Liz Strickland was awarded the Medal of Merit at the Gwinnet Chamber’s 2008 Valor Awards for her efforts in Duluth’s Operation Drive Smart Program. Operation Drive Smart was initiated by the Duluth Police Department in an effort to educate teen drivers about some of the common behaviors that result in numerous traffic fatalities each year.
