Container Gardens

Geri Laufer will present a program on "Container Gardens" to the Mountain Shadow Garden Club at the October meeting. Geri, Public Relations Manager for the Atlanta Botanical Garden and Marketing Content Editor for ABG's publications, and was formerly an ABG Trustee for 18 years. She earned a MS in Horticulture from Rutgers University after graduating with a BS in Education from the University of Pittsburgh. Geri's professional career, which has utilized the knowledge and skills of both degrees, includes authoring books and magazine articles, teaching horticulture courses at Gwinnett Technical Institute and presenting programs at Flower Shows, Association Conventions and garden clubs. Her acclaimed book, "Tussie-Mussies" was named a Book-of-the-Month Club Alternate Selection and Garden Book Club Selection in 1993 and won Best Book of the Year Award from the Garden Clubs of Georgia in 1995. Geri's 2- acre home garden, "Frog Holler", was featured in Better Homes and Gardens special interest magazine, Perennials, Spring, 2001 and included in a June, 2000 Atlanta magazine article "The 20 Most Beautiful Gardens in Atlanta". She has also served as the Cobb County Horticulture Agent for the UGA Cooperative Extension Service from 1979 to 1981.

If lack of space or sun, the severe drought or simply a desire to add beauty to your garden or patio has created an interest in container gardens, we urge you to come and hear this fun-loving gardener and lively public speaker discuss the Whys and Hows of creating beautiful container gardens. Geri is noted for outstanding rapport with an audience and consistently receives excellent class evaluations by students and audiences. The meeting is scheduled at 7:30 PM, Monday, Oct. 6, at the Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 5801 Hugh Howell Rd, Stone Mountain. Free, Call 770-934-4726 for directions
