Free Entrepreneur Workshop for Women
Slated for Fall

Sorority Embraces Nontraditional Entrepreneur

Lawrenceville, GA- A Green T.I.E. (Training Inspires Entrepreneurship) Affair – Free Entrepreneur Training for Women is slated for Saturday, October 4, 2008 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at The 1818 Club located at 6500 Sugarloaf Parkway.  Sponsored by the Upsilon Alpha Omega Graduate Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, the workshop targets the nontraditional entrepreneur, namely minority women in keeping with the national focus of Alpha Kappa Alpha’s service program.

Persons interested in becoming entrepreneurs and/or present entrepreneurs who are in need of additional training are welcome to join chapter members for an evening designed to educate and empower.  Entrepreneur training will be provided by the Small Business Development Council (SBDC) and attendees can expect entrepreneur success stories and the opportunity to network with perspective/present entrepreneurs.  In addition, fifteen lucky guests will be presented with an “Upsi lon Alpha Omega Graduate Chapter Entrepreneur Scholarship” award to use toward additional training with the SBDC.

“This is a very exciting time for our sorority and women in business,” said Geri Baldwin Gonzalez, President, Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter.  “Our energies are focused on generating economic success for families and communities through AKA’nomics: community building, wealth building, and fiscal fitness.  We encourage everyone with a creative idea they have dreamed about transitioning into a business to join us.  There is more to entrepreneurship than just a craft – there are taxes, marketing, and other facets that must grasped to succeed.  Training inspires entrepreneurship -- and with education and support, entrepreneurs can succeed.”

Gonzalez added, “We also welcome present entrepreneurs who may need to brush up on their entrepreneurial skills to join us in October.  Our program committee, under the leadership of Vice President Kathy Jackson looks forward to furthering opportunities for business owners through networking and support.”

Class size is limited and a delectable dessert buffet will be served.   For more information or to register for the event email Bettina Benoit Durant, Green T.I.E. Affair Chairman at UAOGreenTie@aol.com.   Upsilon Alpha Omega Graduate Chapter has served Gwinnett County and beyond since 1994 and is over 100 members strong.  For more information log on to http://www.upsilonalphaomega.com/.
