ADAIRSVILLE, GA— Celebrate the holiday season this year at Barnsley Gardens Resort with special buffets on Thanksgiving and Christmas, a lighting of the village, carriage rides, family scavenger hunts, Christmas carolers, a Special New Year's Eve dinner and more. The festivities kick off with Thanksgiving on November 26 and end with a fun-filled New Year’s celebration on December 31.  The holidays are a magical time to visit the resort because the entire property is elegantly decorated for the season, and guests can gather around the various on-property fire pits to toast marshmallows and sip hot cocoa while sharing their favorite memories.  Barnsley Gardens Resort’s 3,300 acres make it the perfect destination for a family holiday, with abundant activities such as world-class golf, a European spa, miles of hiking trails, horseback rides, hunting and clay shooting at Springbank Plantation, lawn games, and Frisbee golf.   
Guests can get a jump start on the holidays and perhaps gift buying this November and December with Barnsley Gardens Resort’s special “Christmas Comes Early Package.”  Guests who book overnight stays during these two months (excluding holidays) will receive a $100 gift certificate to use for themselves or give as a gift.  The certificate is applicable toward activities, dining and retail items and is valid through March 31, 2011.  Room rates start at $275 per night and suites start at $300 per night.
Fall’s stunning foliage makes Barnsley Gardens Resort a breathtaking location for a Thanksgiving escape.  The festivities begin on Thursday, November 25 with a special Thanksgiving Day Buffet.  Guests can enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal featuring roasted turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce. In addition to these items, guests can also dine on Roast Top Sirloin of Beef with au Jus, Pecan Crusted Georgia Rainbow Trout,  and Baked Acorn Squash with Apples and Brown Sugar, along with items from the smoked seafood display, an assortment of salads, fresh vegetables and more. The price of the buffet is $48 for adults and $20 for children ages 6-11, and seatings will be at 11:30 a.m., Noon, 1:30 p.m., and 2:00 p.m.
After lunch, guests are invited to explore the property with a horse and carriage ride that winds around the historic Ruins.  Guests who want to exercise off those extra pounds potentially gained from the abundant buffet can hike the resort’s miles of trails.  Later in the evening at dusk, everyone will gather to see the annual ceremonial lighting of Barnsley’s English country-style village green. Guests are then invited to the Beer Garden where they can share S’mores and hot cocoa around a roaring fire while enjoying the sight of hundreds of sparkling lights.
Barnsley Gardens Resort also offers special activities for its younger visitors. On Saturday, November 27 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. the resort’s own Fairy Godmother will host a gingerbread craft session. Throughout the day on Friday and Saturday, families can bond and partake in scavenger hunts, lawn games, and board games.
In December, Barnsley Gardens Resort will continue to spread holiday cheer.  On December 4 and 11 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., visitors are invited to the resort for a special wreath making class with the property’s gardeners.  The gardeners will teach guests how to hand-make festive holiday decorations from items found on the property.  The price of the workshop is $20 per wreath.
The Barnsley Traditional Christmas celebration begins on December 24.  From 7:00-8:00 p.m., the resort will host a Christmas Eve Service in the Town Hall.  Immediately after the service, children can partake in a unique milk and cookie parade led by the Fairy Godmother.  From 9:00 p.m. until Midnight, guests are invited to join Fairy for “Games with the Grinch” – an event featuring Bingo and additional family games followed by a showing of How the Grinch Stole Christmas.     
On Christmas Day, Barnsley will host a Christmas Buffet in The Rice House.  Seatings will be at 11:30 a.m., Noon, 1:30 p.m., and 2:00 p.m.  The price of the buffet is $48 for adults and $20 for children ages 6-11, and featured items include a variety of salads, a smoked seafood display, Herb Parmesan Crusted Breast of Chicken with a Dijon Cream Sauce, Bourbon Glazed Atlantic Salmon with Saffron Rice and Sauce Beurre Blanc, and a Horseradish Crusted Whole New York Strip Loin.  After dinner, guests are invited to participate in lawn games, family scavenger hunts, and museum tours.  On Saturday, December 27, the resort will offer special garden tours at 10:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. that will lead guests through the hundreds of acres of flora that dot the property.  
Revelers can ring in the New Year at Barnsley Gardens Resort at the annual New Year's Eve Dinner in the Rice House with seatings from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. After dinner, guests can head over to the historic Ruins and dance the night away into 2011. When the clock strikes Midnight, watch the Fairy Frog Drop as Fairy Godmother hosts an evening with lots of surprises in store. The resort will also be offering a delicious New Year’s Day breakfast buffet the following morning. The price of the buffet is $20 per person plus tax and gratuity, mimosas are included.
