Special Recognition and Reception
Honoring Brenda Sue Davis

Brenda Sue Davis 47 years of service.

Lawrenceville First Baptist Church held a special recognition honoring Brenda Sue Davis for the 47 years that she has given to the church and the community. The event was held on Sunday August 29, 2010. Church members as well as people from all over Georgia came to show their regard for this woman who has spent her life in full time Christian
service.
Brenda Sue began serving at the church on May 20, 1963 when she was employed as church secretary by Reverend W.C. Corley. Her job titles have changed through the years but her dedicated service has remained constant and devoted, no job has been too difficult, too big or too small for her to accomplish with good natured patience. Brenda Sue has rejoiced with parents at births of children, assisted brides as they made the walk down the aisle of the church and given comfort to grieving families. She has visited the sick and offered aid to the lonely. Brenda Sue has epitomized the love of Christ in her service to others as she assisted four full time pastors and two interim ministers. First Baptist members Howard and Bobbie Turnage said that Brenda Sue is FBC incarnate; they described her as a kind and faithful, dedicated committed servant to the cause of Christ and willing to do whatever was needed to improve the church.
At the time Brenda Sue began working at Lawrenceville First Baptist she and the Reverend W. C. Corley were the only full time employees of the church.
Lawrenceville First Baptist had about 900 members when Brenda Sue began working there and she has seen the church population grow to over 1400 members and 7 full time staff members.
Brenda Sue is a Baptist from birth; she was born in the Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta. She joined the Lawrenceville First Baptist Church in 1955 and while a youngster she often assisted her mother
as her mother volunteered in the children’s ministry at the church. In addition to working with Reverend W.C. Corley, Brenda Sue has been
the assistant to pastors Dr. R. Page Fulgham, Dr. Lamar Holley and the present pastor Rev. Inman Houston. She also assisted interim pastors Dr. Glen Waldrop and Dr. Ronnie Spillars.
Brenda Sue Davis’ parents, the late Garland and Mary Sue Davis, were Gwinnett County natives and Brenda Sue has spent all her life in this county.
As Brenda Sue goes into retirement she goes with many congratulations and good wishes as her friends look forward to her volunteer work in the church that she will continue to serve.
