The Rundown - July

Hello Gwinnett,

This month, I will be talking about the NBA al-ways exciting Finals.
In June, A major rivalry was renewed as the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers faced each other in the NBA Finals. This was a hard fought series, and this team has won their first NBA Championship since 1986. This special team is no other than the Boston Celtics. This is their 17th NBA title and the Celtics did it against a long-time enemy, the Los Angeles Lakers. Last year, with the worst record in the NBA, The Celtics had a high chance to win the NBA draft lottery. But they ended up with the 5th pick in the draft and all hope seemed to be lost. But finally, the luck of the Irish started to kick in as Danny Ainge (former Celtics player from 1981-1989) made a trade for Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett.
They had a great regular season and they had the biggest win turnaround in NBA history with 42+ wins this season. The Celtics ended with an impressive 66-16 record. Although they were the best road team in the NBA, in the NBA Playoffs, they were horrible as they lost zero of their first six road playoff games. But in the Conference Finals, they beat the Detroit Pistons twice on Detroit’s home court. Then they beat the Los Angeles Lakers in one of the all-time greatest NBA Finals games ever at the Staples Center (Lakers home court). They overcame a 24 point deficit to go on and win game 4 as that then gave them a 3-1 lead in the series. Congratulations to Doc Rivers and the rest of his team as they took home the NBA 2008 title!
See you next month!
