Moonlight & Music Concert Series Begins May 23, 2008!
Partnering with Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation, the Lawrenceville Tourism and Trade Association (LTTA) presents the first of five live concerts on the lawn of the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse (GHC) on Friday, May 23 at 8 p.m.

The first Moonlight & Music Concert will feature the Savannah - based Eric Culberson Blues Band. Fans have cheered for the return of The Eric Culberson Blues Band as he has kicked off the series four years in a row.

Guitarist and vocalist Eric Culberson reintroduces the public to what Texas blues guitar sounded like in the pre-Vaughan era when the genre was defined by the likes of Freddie King, Johnny Copeland and Albert Collins. Eric tackles genres ranging from Memphis soul to Texas blues with the confidence of a veteran. Culberson demonstrates equal skill on both electric and slide guitar. He has developed a mature Texas-meets-Chicago sound that generates sparks without being overwrought or flashy. His style is unmistakably authentic and energetic.  The band has opened for or jammed with numerous recording artists, such as Jerry Portnoy, Carey Bell, (two of Muddy Waters' harp players), Johnny Winter, Buddy Guy, John Mayall, Tony Coleman (B.B. King band) Jimmy Dawkins, Casey Jones (Albert Collins), Room Full Of Blues, Ted Nugent, J. Geils and Magic Dick, Eddie Kirkland, Johnny Clyde Copeland, Koko Taylor and Etta James. “This blues band will blow your socks off and we’re excited about starting the concert series with a terrific first show,” said LTTA Executive Director, Jay Markwalter. “These guys play blues circuits all over the country and I think our Moonlight & Music attendees are going to be very pleased with their performance.”
Held on the fourth Friday from May through September at 8 pm, each show in the series will offer a different genre of music including blues, Motown/beach/swing, rock, folk/singer-songwriter, bluegrass & old-time, classical and more!
The concerts are FREE outdoor lawn events and reserved seating for tables of six can be purchased for only $60 by contacting the GHC at (770)822-5450. With seating different from past years’ events, a seating chart is available to see prior to purchasing tickets by going to the LTTA website at http://www.visitlawrenceville.com/.

In a effort to continue the Moonlight & Music Series as Lawrenceville’s (and even Gwinnett’s) own mini-Chastain Park, attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and visit one of the restaurants on the downtown square for catering or take-out packages.  Come early and enjoy dinner on the grounds prior to the show!  The lawn and table seating is available starting at 6:30 pm.
