Laura Harrison and Laura Hester, Grayson High School's first athletes to be awarded athletic scholarships, were honored on April 10th at a signing ceremony held at the Grayson school. Special guests were Covenant College Head Coach, Mark Duble, and Lorenzo Canalis, Berry College Head Coach. Laura Harrison signed with Berry College in Rome, Georgia while Laura Hester signed to play at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
Laura and Laura have played together on and off during their Club soccer years and both girls most recently played for Mike Morgan's Norcross Magic Gold Team this past year. They have both been Varsity starters for the past 4 years, at South Gwinnett for freshman and sophomore years and then at Grayson High School for the past 2 years. Laura and Laura have shared honors at Grayson High School, where last year they were both All County selections and both were team MVP's for last year's Grayson Inaugural season. While they will continue their soccer careers at different colleges, Berry and Covenant play each other during the season, providing Laura and Laura the opportunity to play opposite each other for the first time in many years.
Laura Hester is the daughter of Tyre and Cathy Hester of Snellville and Laura Harrison is the daughter of Ken and Kathy Harrison of Snellville.
